How to use membership features of Wellington Freecycle group


The wellingtonfreecycle group is based on the Freecycle servers at
http://groups.freecycle.org/wellingtonfreecycle

Forget your Username / Password ?




If you cannot log into the website, there are several things you can do.

Forgotten your username


  1. http://my.freecycle.org/

    Click on the lower section, "forgotten username form".

    Enter your email address and the system will send out confirmation of your ID to you.

    If you are not registered / have no Freecycle ID, you will need to register for one. Follow the top section of the above website.

  2. Once you have confirmation of your ID, go to the website again

    http://my.freecycle.org/

    and follow the "forgotten password form".

    you will be issued a new password, which you can then login to the website.

    You will be given the opportunity to change your password to something you can remember.

    If you do not receive a new / temporary password

    1. check your trash/spam folders, to check if freecycle.org emails are not accidently being treated as spam.
    2. If you still have not received a new password in 20 minutes, send a blank email to info@freecycle.org for more information. (automated reply).

  • Joining the group
  • Being a member of the group
    • Receive emails 1 at a time
    • Switch to digest option (reduce emails)
    • Stop emails, but still be a member of the group

    Please log in to change your settings for the Wellington Freecycle group.

    • Joining the group

      • At the top of the screen where it has 'Find a group near you', please put Wellington, and press the Find group button.

        You should receive a list of 1 or more groups. Please select the group you wish to join, & press one of the following buttons:
        • Go to group page
        • Join this group
        If you press the join this group button, the same page will refresh, but will have your Wellington group listed on the screen.

        You are now a member of the group.


    • Being a member of the group

      • Receive emails one at a time
        • Click on change settings for the Wellington group.

          Where it says Email preference,
          select 'one for each post',
          then the change email preference button.

          You will now start to receive emails for each offer/wanted/taken/received message sent by group members.


      • Digest option
        • Click on change settings for the Wellington group.

          Where it says Email preference,
          select 'email digest',
          then the change email preference button.

          Freecycle will stop sending you emails one at a time for each post made. You will receive a 'digest' of emails for that day, up to 25 emails per digest.

          Example. if the group has 68 emails, you will receive your 1st digest shortly after the 25th Email was sent to the group. This will show you all the offers/wanteds etc up to that time.

          When the 50th email is sent, you will receive another digest email. At the end of the day (UK time), all the remaining emails not already sent that day, will be sent as a shortened digest, so in this example, you will receive the remaining 18 messages.


      • Stop receiving emails from Wellington (But still remain a member of the group)
        • Click on change settings for the Wellington group.

          Where it says Email preference,
          select 'none apart from admins',
          then the change email preference button.

          You will stop receiving emails from Freecycle members. However you can still participate by making your offer/wanteds, and replying to other members online.

          Please note: You will still receive any monthly files, and admin messages that are sent to the wellingtonfreecycle group.

          Please refer to Leaving the group (below), if you no longer wish to participate and do not wish to receive any emails.


    • Leaving the group
      • Click on change settings for the Wellington group.

        You'll see a big buton called 'Leave this group'.

        Pressing this buton will remove you from the Wellington and you will no longer be a member, or receive emails.

      Here you can change your password, email address, or delete your account (If you no longer wish to be a Freecycle member.)

    2. http://my.freecycle.org/home/groups

      Here you can change your delivery settings from normal / digest / nomail etc for each group.

      You can also leave the group (existing members), or join the group (for non members).

      Just put 'wellington' in the bottom search box, & you can join the group.

    3. http://my.freecycle.org/home/posts

      Here you can make a new offer/wanted posting, & monitor your existing messages to your group(s).

    4. The home-page is http://groups.freecycle.org/wellingtonfreecycle

      Here you can browse the offers / wanted messages from the members of the group.

      "GROUP INFO" tab, will show the description of the group, and the files available to members and non members.
